A Secure Web Server (SSL) certificate:
- Confirms you are who really are.
- Encrypts information sent to and from your web server.
- Protects information from being tampered with.

- Inspire trust in those who provide information via your web site.

| Types of Certificates |
There are three types of certificates commonly used on web sites:
- Trusted certificates
- Self issued (un-trusted) certificates
- Wild card certificates

| Trusted Certificates |
|
Trusted Certificates are issued by a "Trusted Authority" such as GeoTrust,
Thawte or Verisign. The authority verifies your business identity and issues a
certificate that is good at one URL, such as www.YourDomain.com. The certificate
will only work at the domain name, including the www. A trusted certificate is
linked to Trusted Authority Certificates built into web browsers and your
certificate is automatically "trusted" because it is issued by a trusted
authority.
Trusted certificates verify your business identity and provide SSL (Secure
Socket Layer) encryption services.
The price of these certificates varies depending on the type of certificate
and the issuing authority. They start at approximately $149 per year. Please

| Self-Issued (Un-trusted)
Certificates |

At
CommerceStreet.com, we can issue "untrusted" secure server certificates. Since
these "self-issued" certificates are
not from an authority automatically trusted by web browsers, a visitor to your web site would need to choose to
trust the certificate (a window will popup), it will not be trusted
automatically.
Self-issued certificates provide SSL encryption services but do not verify
your identity. These are cost effective solution when you do not need to inspire trust
with your web site visitors (i.e. web sites for employees, vendors,
close customers, etc).
Certificates issued by CommerceStreet.com are $29.95 for 2 years.

| Wild Card Certificates |
|
"Wild Card Certificates" allow any web site URL that includes the domain name.
For instance, CommerceStreet.com has a wild card certificate that is good at
www.CommerceStreet.com,
name2.CommerceStreet.com, name3.CommerceStreet.com, etc. You can use
CommerceStreet.com's wild card certificate with CommerceStreet.com's domain
name, such as YourName.CommerceStreet.com.
The certificate is automatically trusted because it's issued by a trusted
authority and hosted by CommerceStreet.com, and it provides SSL encryption
services. It can include your domain name, but must end with CommerceStreet.com.
You can add our wild card certificate to your web site for $60 per year. It
is included with our Secure Site Hosting Plan.
